License Manager
Overview
EZScale software is protected by a License Manager that enforces our licensing policy.

The License Manager provides for a thirty (30) day evaluation period. During the evaluation period, you are using a full-working version of EZScale so that you can fully evaluate its capabilities. All you work is preserved so that if you decide to purchase EZScale, your work will not be lost.
If you ever need to add another workstation quickly or install EZScale on a new machine for some reason, you can take advantage of the thirty (30) day evaulation period to run with the new workstation until you have a chance to purchase an additional license.
Extending The Evaluatoin Period
If you need additional time to evaluate EZScale, contact sales. They can provide you with a code to extend the evaluation period.
Select
the "Extend the evaluation period option
Enter
the 8 digit unlock code provided by sales.
Click
the Extend button.
You
should receive a message acknowledging your extension. Click OK to close the acknowledgement.
Click
Continue to run EZScale
Important: After the thirty (30) day evaluation period, or if you uninstall EZScale, the License Manager will indicate that the license is expired. Uninstalling and reinstalling will not extend the evaluation period. Any attempt to turn back the computers time will also expire the license.
If you decide to purchase EZScale, you will need to provide the serial number shown on the license manager. You will then receive an unlock code either over the phone, in writing or via e-mail or fax depending on what you work out with your sale representative.
Select
the "Register License" option.
Enter
the unlock code. It is not case sensitive.
Click
the Register button.
You
should receive a message acknowledging your registration. Click OK to close the acknowledgement.
Click
Continue to run EZScale
The security information is very robust. Once you have registered EZScale, you can uninstall and reinstall EZScale and the program should still be registered. In other words, uninstalling does not remove the registration from the machine.
Downloads Of Same Major Version
You can always download and install the latest demo version of EZScale to update your existing installation as long as the major version number is unchanged. For example, if you are using version 1.2.9, you can download any version that starts with 1.x.x and install it without affecting your license.
Important: A new version may modify the file structure of your database. Therefore, always make backups of your data before installing a new version or you will not be able to drop back to the previous version.
Downloads Of Higher Major Version
If you download and install a demo version with a major version number higher than the version you are running, it will install as an evaluation copy. For example, if you are using version 1.2.9 and download demo version 2.1.3, version 2.1.3 will install as an evaluation version. You will typically have thirty (30) days to evaluate the new version and purchase the upgrade before the evaluation license expires. You current 1.x.x license will not be affected.
Important: A new version may modify the file structure of your database. Therefore, always make backups of your data before installing a new version or you won't be able to drop back to the previous version.
Important: We recommend that you install higher version demos to a new folder during evaluation. You can make a copy of your working data to the new folder to work with the evaluation version.
After registering EZScale, a file with the extension .SLX will be created in your program directory. We strongly recommend that you make a copy of the .SLX file to a floppy disk and place it in a safe place. Should your computer system ever crash and require a complete reformat of your hard drive and reinstall of Windows and EZScale, you can restore your license following this procedure:
Reinstall
Windows and any other tools, applications or utilities you normally install.
Install
EZScale BUT DO RUN THE PROGRAM YET! If you run EZScale before the next step, you will not be able to recover
your security information.
Copy
the .SLX file back into the program directory.
Now
you can run EZScale. If this is the first time that EZScale is run and you are on the same machine, it
will locate the .SLX informatoin and restore your registration information.
You can transfer your license to another machine if necessary. This procedure requires, however, that you contact sales at SSI Consulting Group to walk you throught the procedure.
