Mr.
Clupper has thirty years of industry and ten years of consulting
experience in technical, quality and management functions where he has
contributed substantially to customer satisfaction, profit and sales
improvements.
His
industry positions included General Manager of Metallurgy at Carpenter
Technology Corporation, a leader in the manufacture of specialty steel
products; and Director of Quality for Emson Research Incorporated, a
manufacturer of high volume injection molded plastic consumer dispensing
products.
Mr.
Clupper is currently Vice President of SSI Consulting Group where he
combines his project and process experience to provide consulting,
training and systems solutions for domestic and international clients.
Accepted
in the boardroom and on the shop floor, he is a decisive, energetic,
outgoing individual who can pull an effective team together while
maintaining high work standards to obtain superior results. The results
are practical, cost effective and reliable, while still supporting process
excellence. In addition to his consulting projects he has personally
conducted training seminars in Management, Metallurgy and Quality for over
1500 people for many organizations.
A
Metallurgical Engineer with a strong background in Stainless Steels, he
has often consulted for major clients producing and fabricating in the
metals and materials industries. At Carpenter he was responsible for all
plant technical and quality activities including: technical services,
chemical and mechanical property testing laboratories, melting, casting,
hot working, heat treating, cleaning, cold finishing, non-destructive
testing, process procedures, failure analysis, as well as furnace
uniformity, mechanical testing, and calibration standards.

As a consultant
these areas of expertise have been continued with other domestic and
international clients. These were all done with a customer focus and
leadership style that provided statistically validated technical and
quality excellence at optimum yields and cost.
As
a coach, facilitator, and “hands on” innovator who starts with
today’s problems, his experience with effective implementations has
provided him with a background to successfully translate the theory of
today's "modern" management and quality principles into
world-class levels of reliability, productivity, and customer
satisfaction. His experience includes successful quality program
implementations that obtained Automotive, ISO and NADCAP approvals while
reducing process variability and generating enthusiastic employee
involvement. His emphasis has been on process and quality system
installations, production turnarounds, start-up operations, cost and
productivity improvement programs as well as personnel utilization,
process identification/ evaluation/ and solutions, and new process
innovations. He is also actively involved in defining service industry
applications for SPC and Quality System management principles.
Mr.
Clupper received his BS degree in Metallurgy with Engineering
accreditation from the Pennsylvania State University. He is an ASQ
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE 17402), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA 04365)
and attained ISO Lead Assessor certification (L-2844).
He
has been active and held offices in ASM International, ASM-Southern
Connecticut Chapter, Connecticut Council of Industrial Management Clubs,
Bridgeport Business Management Club, American Society for Quality,
Statistical Process Control Society, American Society for Testing and
Materials, The Manufacturers Association of New Haven (Chamber of
Commerce), The Wire Association International and the Society of Plastics
Engineers.
